Gold Coast Bulletin
YEARS of negotiations have paid off this morning with the arrival of more than 300 passengers from China.
The first direct flight from China to the Gold Coast arrived this morning just after 8am and is set to be the first in a wave of flights to arrive over the next year.
Tourism bosses are overjoyed with the result, with selfies galore being taken by the newly arrived visitors as they stepped off the tarmac and onto the red carpet that was laid out for them.
A welcoming ceremony will be held inside Gold Coast Airport shortly.
To meet the new visitors was Federal Tourism Minister Richard Cobleck, State Tourism Minister Kate Jones, Gold Coast Tourism’s Martin Winter and Paul Donovan and Acting Mayor Donna Gates.
More to come.
