New images reveal the Gold Coast’s next dining precinct inside a new $500 million development which will create a significant number of jobs.
A FAMILY friendly dining precinct will be at the heart of a new $500 million development now under construction.
New documents filed with the council this week by developer Property Solutions reveal new features of the Queen Street Village development which is now rising on the old Gold Coast Hospital site in Southport.
The playground and dining area will be built on the Queen Street side of the five-tower complex and will feature either a cafe or juice bar described as a “natural communal point”.
The playground has been designed to allow parents to keep a close eye on their children.
“The playground entrance remains open and freely accessible, to ensure parents are deterred from leaving their children here,” a planning report on the project reads.
“Further, a feature mound is located at the entrance to provide a subtle slow down point for children entering and exiting the playground.”
Construction of the development began in mid-March, just days before the COVID-19 pandemic forced the shutdown of many industries.
Work was not interrupted and the project is on track, with the first stage expected to open in mid-2021.
The first stage will be a four-storey shopping and entertainment centre that will include an IGA supermarket, Asian food court, new tavern, two-drive through fast-food eateries and an 11-screen, 1000-seat Dendy cinema complex.
